BYU Homecoming '17

We spent Homecoming week at BYU and it was AWESOME! We hiked the Y, ate lunch at the Creamery, then roamed the book store for a few hours. Afterwards we headed for the stadium and  Steven got the great honor of running the American flag during opening ceremonies. We then walked over to the George Q. Cannon and he had the opportunity to fire it off towards the end of half time. While in the area we had the chance to visit the Provo City Temple, The Church History Museum (which was amazing), and enjoyed a fantastic dinner out with my siblings and most of their kiddos. It was a weekend to remember. Go Cougars!

Nothing Will Stop Her Nine

This sweet girl turned 9 at the end of Sept. She did a matinee performance of The Sound of Music, came home to celebrate her big day, then ran back to the school for her final evening performance. Haley is our positive go getter who will without a doubt conquer the world, or at least the portion she is responsible for. We are so grateful for her determination and kind heart. Happy 9th Haley J.

The Sound of Music

At the end of the school year we received an email saying they were in search of a very young looking 8th grade and 3rd grade girl to play the roles of Brigitta and Gretl in the high school's upcoming musical The Sound of Music. Kadyn and Haley went to the audition with high hopes and walked away with the roles they had desired. They worked hard for seven weeks with some of the most amazing high school students we have ever met, and I have worked a great deal with amazing youth. These Juniors and Sophomores were kind, respectful, and always positive and uplifting to Kadyn, Haley, and the rest of the younger cast members. The show went up at the end of Sept. and was a complete hit. It sold out for three nights in a row, turning away 60 plus individuals each night. Maria (Meg) and Captain von Trapp (Michael) were two of the cast members that truly took the girls under their wings. They even come down to the middle and elementary school now each week just to visit them. It was such a fantastic experience and has been an answer to our prayers in helping the girls feel a solid bond to their new school and surroundings.

Bleeding Blue

Well, the season is not going good to say the least, but the Ballard family will always bleed blue and cheer on our Cougars no matter what the outcome may be.  At least the parties bring a little happiness to those many Saturdays that have ended on a glum note this year. Go Cougs!

Back To School '17

This will be our first full year at DCC and the kids have a feeling it's going to be great. Everyone got the classes and/or teachers they were hoping for so we are off to a great start. This year we have a 10th, 8th, 6th, 3rd, and 1st grader. Here's to a great school year!
